(City of San Fernando, Pampanga) “Close to 7,000 jobs await our youths in Central Luzon.”
Director Adelina Adelina S. Apostol of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III (DSWD FO III) said that there are 6,977 summer jobs allotted for the region during yesterday’s flag raising ceremony held at the DSWD covered court in this city.

This is likewise an opportunity for them to learn life skills in the workplace at the same time earn money to augment for their school needs. This program is implemented during summertime when the yoth are on vacation, thus using their available time in a productive manner.
Government services bring closer to Pampanga’s coastal peopleHundreds of Cabalens (Pampanga’s natives) in Sapang Kawayan, Masantol, Pampanga were served with various government services in a whole day of caravan of services held on April 13, 2012 in the area. The Cabalens were given free medical and dental services, including free medicines, and 900 packs of groceries from the Provincial Government of Pampanga headed by Governor Lilia Pineda and 300 packs of free vegetable seedlings from the Department of Agriculture (DA). In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development field Office III (DSWD FO III) awarded the amount of P104, 000.00 to 50 victims of the recent typhoons under the Cash for Work program of the Department. The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino beneficiaries availed of services on Beneficiary Update System (BUS), Grievance Redress System (GRS) and Compliance Verification System of the program.
Poverty: a strong motivation to succeedPoverty motivates people to succeed in life. Take the case of Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago who triumphed over poverty because of her brilliance and upright determination. The same is true with Jolina Labrador, a twelve- year old Pantawid Pamilya beneficiary from Mayantoc, Tarlac. Jolina is second among the three children of Mang Gerry, 39 and Aling Generosa, 40. Mang Gerry is a construction worker and earns a minimum amount of P 250.00 daily. Out of his small income, Aling Generosa derives all their household expenses including the school allowance of their three children. The eldest Jennifer is a 2nd year high school student while the youngest Gerry Jr. is a Grade 3 pupil; both are doing well in their respective classes.
