Musmos na pangarap

“Gusto kong maging titser! Duktor! Abogada! Pulis! Nars!”

A family of his own

Ryan Christian was only three (3) months old when admitted at the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) in Lubao, Pampanga on April 24, 2008. His biological mother left him at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital in Tarlac City three (3) days after giving birth. The hospital’s medical social worker in turn referred the case to Ma. Elena Jalos, Social Welfare Officer II of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-SWAD) team in Tarlac.

Efforts were made to locate the child’s biological parents until on August 2008, Ms. Jalos found them. After a series of counseling sessions, the couple decided to surrender the child to the DSWD by signing the Deed of Voluntary Commitment (DVC) on August 5, 2008. According to them, it was the most difficult decision they have to make but they have to do it if only for their child’s best welfare.
